“New Normal” explores the transformative journey of the human mind, delving into the process of creating new neural pathways and reshaping our perception of reality. Inspired by Carl Jung’s concept of individuation, the process by which a person integrates the unconscious into conscious awareness, the album reflects the evolution of the self and the power of transformation. Each track captures a distinct aspect of how our brains adapt and evolve, from the raw, digital pulse of “8 Bit Machine” to the introspective reflections in “Persona” to the emotional core of “The Amygdala”.
This album invites listeners to reimagine what “normal” can be, highlighting the power of cognition, resilience, and the endless possibilities of rewiring the brain. Just as Jung emphasized the integration of opposites in the psyche, “New Normal” balances contrasting elements of rhythm, sound design, and melody. Through immersive soundscapes, it becomes a sonic representation of change, growth, and the human capacity to redefine itself, inviting a journey into the depths of both the mind and the music. The New Normal is an experimental electronic album by Maryam Kiani, and I had the honor of mastering the album. Textural and immersive, every sound feels handcrafted.
